Permits and Visas for US citizens

Obtaining a permit from the Treasury . . .
Plan to begin the process a minimum of two months before your departure. Because you need the permit in hand to book your tickets, we recommend you start 3 months in advance (i.e., August 4)

The specific visa needed is the § 515.564(b).

Details can be found in Section IV of the Comprehensive Guidelines for License Applications to Engage in Travel-Related Transactions Involving Cuba.

To obtain the permit you’ll need to submit an application that includes the following:

  1. A letter to the Office of Foreign Assets Control-U.S. Department of Treasury (OFAC). We have designed a template letter to make your life easier. Feel free to use the ThatCampCaribe logo as letterhead if you don’t have access to one. Don’t forget to mention you have been accepted to participate in THATCamp Caribe 2.
  2. A copy of your CV.

You can either mail your application to,

Licensing Division
